Hi,

I am currently doing the wideband/multiple band compact antenna design. The frequency band aims at covering 138 - 2500 MHz, even 138 - 6000MHz. VSWR=2:1 for all frequency bands. Dimension restriction: Must be compact design, height must be less than 6in. Ground size: O.D. 3feet max. Power rating: 200W min total for all channels.

I am thinking to try with PIFA. Would anybody like to give me some suggestion about how to make a PIFA satisfying VHF/UHF band? What's the dimension I could start with?

Of course, I am open to any other feasible suggestion how to design such an antenna.

Thank you so much in advance.

Re: Help on PIFA: wideband/multiple band compact antenna des

PIFA is relative narrow band antenna, not in the case this huge frequency ranges you are looking for.

Yes, you are right. However, I currently aim at designing PIFA in the frequency of 138 MHz to 174 MHz. Any suggestion about the dimension and the antenna configuration? Thank you in advance.

Re: Help on PIFA: wideband/multiple band compact antenna des

PIFA get the resonance when the W + L = λ/4 (it depends also by substrate height and permittivity).
where W and L are the width and length of the active element.

So, the dimensions of the PIFA for 138MHz will be large (almost 30cm long).

For lower dimensions I would recommend for this band a printed helical antenna or a meander monopole.

PLZ help : PIFA on EBG Substrate for bluetooth : please suggest some methods to enhance the efficiency of the antenna which is coming around 64%.
thanks and regards
