Opportunities in MNC's after completing Ph.D in VLSI ?

Hi,
Can somone tell me how good are the opportunities for a person who completes Ph.D in vlsi ?
Will there be any preference at all in the industry ?

If you love to teach, then dont worry about MNC's.
If you are going to do PhD only for a MNC job , then dont do it.
 

Thanks !!! can you suggest me proper way to get into vlsi industry ?
I have 1-year experience @ INTEL corporation (VLSI field).
But presently I am working as lecturer in an Engg. college since 1-year.
I am interested to work in industry very much.
 

I myself am going to join as a lecturer so cant give you any useful suggestion. I have seen that most of
the VLSI related jobs in india tend to be testing type which requires a good knowledge of testing basics, scripting( like tcl,perl etc) and some digital design knowledge.
