IF Filter response

Hi dear all;

I want to know if a 'modulated RF sin-wave signal with a 40ns PW' pass the IF filter with Fc=300MHz and BW=80MHz, what is the output delay or signal form.

If you know, please introduce a reference.

Thanks

IF Filter response

Hi,
If I assumed, that the rise time of your moddulated signal is at 10 nsec;than it has a 3dB badwith of ca 35-40MHz. After 80MHz filtering you will become a damped signal at 3. harmonic with ca. 6 dB(6dB pro octave characteristic assumed) and so on...

IF Filter response

Thanks
But the problem is that the delay is very important in my system.
I want to use an IF filter that I don't miss the instant of begining of signal.
So I want to know, Dose the (Group)delay of the filter damage my signal?
Thank you

IF Filter response

You can assume (as practical rule) that delay time is similar as your filtered edge times...
If your filter has linear groupdelay characteristic -your signal distortion is minimal.
Damaged signal is, I belief, not actual to say for a typical filter response:)
For exacter data /answer you must have a concret Filter & simulations/ tests...
