Hardware Design engineer wanted for Growing Los Angeles, CA-based electronics company.

Hardware Design Engineer

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Work with an engineering team comprised of both internal resources and 3rd parties in the design, development, and integration, of electronic system components for electro-acoustic products.
2. Maintain knowledge of the CE market and competitive landscape to ensure alignment of electronic designs with consumer requirements.
3. Operate routinely and effectively within highly talented team environment with limited supervision and coordinate with others to accomplish project tasks.
4. Support management and engineering teams with new product feasibility studies, test planning and cost estimations.
5. Design, specify, engineer/develop, and document necessary electronic analog and digital topologies and components including (but not limited to):
1. Microcontrollers/Programmable logic devices
2. ARM, PIC, and 8051 type controllers
3. Analog to Digital Converters
4. Digital to Analog Converters
5. Digital interfaces (HDMI, SPDIF, AES/EBU)
6. Wireless transceivers (Bluetooth,
7. Audio signal conditioning stages
8. Microphone preamplifiers
9. Analog filters
10. Amplifiers (class AB, Class D, etc.)
6. Identify and evaluate new technologies applicable to the roadmap.
7. Regularly document findings and recommendations, and seek out ways to improve product development efficiencies, process, and technical competency.
8. Work closely with other team members to quickly integrate all components toward fully functional products.



Basic Qualifications:

1. Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and 6 years of related experience.
2. Schematic design experience with exceptional skills in audio grounding for amplifiers, microphone and line level signals; ADC/DAC topology; RF (Bluetooth, 802.11, etc.); power supply design (both switch mode and linear); and low noise, low distortion audio system design with
3. Digital and Analog audio test and measurement skills using state of the art equipment including: computer based acoustic/electrical measurement systems such as Audio Precision, Prism DScope, and other audio test equipment.
4. Embedded software design and programming for microcontrollers (including ARM processors, 8051 type processors, PIC, and others)
5. Significant regulatory testing experience (UL, CE, etc.) to allow for products to be designed and certified with minimal rework
6. Hands on PCB prototyping and rework skills to move from schematic to working prototypes with minimal use of external resources in short time frames.
7. Prior experience with audio Digital Signal Processing (DSP) systems.
8. Knowledge and experience with engineering prototype fabrication and assembly.
9. Must possess excellent time management skills.
10. Excellent Verbal and written communication skills.



Desired Characteristics:

1. Bluetooth programming and layout experience
2. HDMI design and layout experience
3. Video On Screen Display (OSD) and Graphical User Interface (GUI) experience
4. Apple Made for iPod and Works With iPhone experience
5. Power Supply design, testing, and specification experience
6. Computer based 3D design, Pro-E or Solid works experience/familiarity.
7. Functional knowledge of Microsoft Project

Eligibility Requirements:

1. Willingness to work in an office in Los Angeles, CA.
2. Willingness to travel internationally when necessary (minimal travel expected)
