Any body here has ever developed a face detector?
What techniques, did you use for face detection? neural networks? or some other kind of techniques such as the skin color, or the movement of face in video sequences?

Hi mami_hacky

I saw such a system (military application) that first used an edge detection on the image itself and after this it was compared to defined patterns (neural network). The output of this was used for decision...

Bye

Uhum! edge detection at the first?!!! What kind of edge detector it was using, canny? I think edge detection at the first step should be done very carefully, and the threshoulds should be chosen exactly, otherwise, nothing cames out. OK! So some king of neural network, yes? do you know the architecture of the net? it's number of layers and it's layers shape.

Hi I was involved some years ago in the field of machine vision ..
There ares several aproaches that you can do ..I Advise you first to start to UNDESRTAND SEGMENTATION .and edge detection .. INTEL has very nice LIBS .. look for them .. Now .. Once you UNDERSTAND how a MACHINE can SEE .. then you have to build a SYSTEM to compare "FEATURES" .In the case of the HUMAN FACE that is done by extracting GEOMETRICAL FEATURES of the FACE /.. I mean the SKULL ..
A FACE will change OVER THE YEARS .. i'm not THE PRETTY BOY i once was ... But the skull proportions never change .. SO basically you identify some reference points and build measurements from the angles defined .
There is an excellent book . But i don't have the refernce at hand ..
I will post it if i find it .
So you have 3 month ahead of very hard work just to get the BASICS .in COMPUTER VISION ..

Enjoy is very nice field

i have some detail

On this site I found a article on Face recogniton and other interesting articles on DSP and electronis in general.
