Hi all.

My problem is driving me crazy.

I'm sure that if you have two independent complex signals at the receiver and you have to combine them, the larger the phase correlation between the two signal the more constructive (coherent) combining we will have.

How can i relate the correlation coefficient of the signal phase to the combiner output SNR>>>>????

please help

regards,

Sorry if I am oversimplifying the problem.

But would the relation be dependent on the combining method? As an extreme example, if your each received signal could somehow be phase aligned independent of the other, then the attenuation can be minimsed, whatever be the phase between the two.

I just combine the signals after multiplying them by a phase weight. this phase weight is not exactly the same as the phase difference between the two signals. it is quantized random phase weight, the idea behind this is that by increasing the quantized levels we can get closer to the optimal phase weight. (put in mind that in addition to the phase difference between signals there is the phase added due to the AWGN).

As an extreme example, if your each received signal could somehow be phase aligned independent of the other, then the attenuation can be minimsed, whatever be the phase between the two.
do you mean by "phase aligned independently of the other" the signal phase or the weight phase? if you meant the signal phase, then, i don't agree with you that the attenuation will be minimized.
i think it will be larger than if we align both phase together.

thanks for the reply[/quote]
