Hi, I want to know how would i start this project,

My goal is when water purity is good or poor it relays a sent sms to another mobile of report. I have idea using this meter found on,

http://tdsmeter.com/products/qc1.html

and I would like to use a nokia 3310 to relay the msg but I have problems using PIC for it, any recommendations? The message should just be either good or poor..

thanks im just new here..

Its not a project for an average person with eletronics knowledge. (Any ways i am not aware about your background or knowledge) For this project to make it sucessfull an indepth knowledge of Biology and chemistry will be required as the said product will be determining the purity of the water based on concentration of various salt contents and contaminations in water. The theory behind the detection is not given anywhere in the refered site as the invention is the companies property. I have not personally used the gadget but still going through the site, many questions arrouse in my mind, as water may be contaminated in thousands of ways possible. May be natural or man made. Is the said device so accurate that it will detect even physical and microscopic contaminations with just two probes?...After you arrive at a stage where these points are cleared and you get satisfactory results, then you may think about SMS'ing the result...Anyways the topic was intresting. Wish you good luck.

The said device has 3% accuracy
It doesnt matter if it would be effective or not, The said device goes green when water is good, so I just want to know how can that message sent through sms when it lits..

I agree with pranam77, that the project's quest isn't in the electronical field. Interfacing an electronical instrument with a GSM modem is a highschool or engineer student beginners project in my opinion. But determining water quality isn't generally easy.

It strongly depends on the nature of the monitored water resource and the kind of possible contamination. Conductivity can be an indicator but it doesn't directly monitor contamination. Other parameters accessible to online monitoring ar pH-value and turbidity. The latter is often used to monitor the operation of water filters. Some parameters, e.g. sterility can't be determined online by state-of-the-art (at least with affordable means).

Added after 7 minutes:

Regarding the said conductivity meter, I fear, you didn't understand the promoted application. It's for monitoring of reverse osmosis or demineralized water quality. It's not suited for well or mineral water.

If the company has mentioned that, its a pure marketing gimmick.

. If it doesnt matter whatz the purpose of sending the SMS. Ok..if you still need to send SMS when the green LED glows, Connect the output of the LED to an optocupler, and the opto to switch a microcontroller with a pre-fed message, which will activate the GSM module to send the SMS. Cheers

if we assume purity checker is working fine..
then i think he is asking help only to interface output of purity checker to nokia 3310

mitch12 is PC available we can do it thru computer also
