Hi, the CD contains two WinRAR type files in E:\ldv4.1 directory:

Base_LDV41_lnx86_1of1.tar
ISR200304081120_LDV41_lnx86_1of1.tar

Can anyone help me how to unzip or untar these two files? I heard they need to be unzipped or untarred into /common and /linux directories, right? But should I unzip/untar them under Linux or Windows OS?

Please help!!

Put these two files to one directory for example ~/temp/
After it
cd ~/temp
tar xvf Base_LDV41_lnx86_1of1.tar
tar xvf ISR200304081120_LDV41_lnx86_1of1.tar
cd ISR.../CDROM1
./setup.sh
and folow the instructions. After several minutes program will ask you base product path. Write
~/temp/Base_LDV41.../CDROM1

Good luck!

You can untar in windows first, and then copy the untarred file to linux.

Hi Mas_serg, thanks for the help, but should I perform the steps you mentioned as root user or just as normal user in Linux? Does this make any difference?

hi,willyboy19
I suggest you as root to install the software. Then you can set a normal user to use it.
BTW, don't forget setting the environments.

i remember c@dence didn't suggest to install tools by root. it would create another user to install.

don't install as root install as normal user
otherwise create permission problem

you'd better install it on RH7.3(7.2). Not install it on RH9.0(there is some trouble). Firstly you can install the "ISR" tar, then install "Base" packeg.

Hi willyboy19.
Of course, you can install cadence under any user. But for security issue I suggest to create special account for all cadence products, for example "cdsmgr". Installation under root is dangerous - nobody knows what is inside of your package. Just don't forget to allow this user to write and read any users directories after installation.

Good luck!

why u install the"ISR" tar,not "Base"?
i think the real way is install Base first, then choose "update" in the main menu.

i just install the software as root user, and run it as a common user, seems no problem. :D ,maybe better follow cadence instruction. just run the install in the ISR directory, it will propmt you for the base directory, and finially you install the latest version you got. this is the recommend install way by cadence doc.
