cmc cmosp18 design kit 2.0

Hi all,

Is there any way I can decide which technology is best for my design? or is it just by random choice that one uses a particular technology. I am confused as to which one to use, CMC's CMOSP18 Design Kit for the 0.18-micron CMOS technology from TSMC or the CMC's CMOSP13 Design kit for the IBM CMRF8SF DM 0.13 micron CMOS technology.

I am designing an op amp for a particular non-linear data converter application.

Thanks in advance for your help.

i don't think anyone here really knows who CMC are (other than myself maybe)...

ibm cmrf8sf (cmosp13 in CMC terms) is great, I just submitted a fab in it. easy to set up, pcells for everything, mosis is great with support. tsmc .18 (cmosp18) is good if you're new to cadence, its not a very complicated kit but not very robust either. no pcells, can't extract inductance, too expensive for fab. an email was sent out some time around the end of 2007 that everyone should switch from 180nm to 130nm if they want to fab in the future because the cost of 130nm went down a lot while the cost of 180nm went up alot.

Thanks for the info. I have been using cadence for quite some time now, but this is the first time I am doing a chip design. So, I started off my design in the 0.18um technology. Looks like switching to 0.13um is a good option, also considering that it has around 4-5 fab runs every year. What are the process options for the 0.13um technology?

reasons for choosing a new technology ic

choose the technology according to the constrain what u need but 130 is good as now fab are suporting good for 130u

Choosing a technology

What's your VDD? What's the required BW?
Cost?
