Multi meter

Can we measure capacitors usning multimeters? I do have a multimeter that can allegedly read Farads but takes ages to come up with or not come up with a realsitic value when touched across a proper capascitor! :-(

Re: Multi meter

Capacitors require good and solid connections for a proper measurement. Use crocodile clips and wait for the result; it might take a minute to measure high value electrolytes. Check the meter manual for maximum possible value or you might have to wait forever! :D

Re: Multi meter

HI DEAR,

OFF COURSE YOU CAN CHEK IT THE MEASUREMENT TIME OF DIFFRENT RANGES OF CAPACTOR IS DIFFRENT, YOU CAN SEE IT IN THE OP MANUAL OF THE MULTIMETER

In addition to all this, the electrolytic capacitors have a broad tolarnce limit (of the order of - 20 to + 100 percent). So the expected value and the meter reading may appreciably differ.
