Hi all,

Can anybody suggest an alternate option for multi drop networking link like RS485 using fiber optic cable.

Thanks & Regards

RS485 using fiber optic cable? Are you looking for protocols or physical layers?

Ethernet sounds like a pretty good option. Multidropping is not only a function of the physical layer but also of protocol. Do you need colision detection and recovery mechanism?

Also consider Lonworks if you are looking for a quick setup of network of dissimilar devices.

Could be SNAP ?
It's media independent.
Can be used peer-to-peer or master-slave.

And free.
