Hi friends,
I am in the urge to interface a GPRS Modem with 8051 Micro controller. I am having lot of doubts regarding this. Any one can please help me....
My doubts are
1) whether i can interface GPRS Modem with 8051 Controllers?
2) How to assign IP address to GPRS Modem and 8051?
any one can briefly explain about the Basic things about the GPRS and 8051 Interfacing.

8051 gprs

You can defineately interface a GSM MODEM to a uP - 8051, AVR , pIC, etc. It only requieres a uP with a serial interface. You don't need much processing power to do simple GPRS communications.

The IP address is assigned by netowrk when you connect to it.

hi

can anybody help me in interfcaing uP's serial port with sim340E. I have connected RXD,TXD nad GND signals to uP and powered up using power key but VDD_EXt doesnot give any output signal (it should be 2.93V) and no response for AT commands. Is anyother signal required for proper functionality?

If the "EXT_VDD" pin is not going high you are probably not holding the "PWR_KEY" pin low long enough. YOu should hold this pin low for at least 1-1/2 seconds.
