high to low level shifter

Hi all!

I need circuit which shift signal from 3.3 V supply to 1.8 V. I have two type of transistors: for 3.3 V and for 1.8 V. Can I use as level shifter inverter which operates at 1.8 V supply and consist of 3.3 V transistors?

The simplest thing you can do is cascade two inverters together. The first inverter will use 3.3V transistors, operating off a 3.3V supply. The second inverter will use 1.8V transistors operating off a 1.8V supply.

The only thing you have to be careful of are input/output levels (V_OH, V_OL, V_IH, V_IL). Ensure that the signals are all within spec.

U can use the balance level shifter or traditional one like inverter out is given to the cascaded nmos and pmos as a input and the output is given to the inverter.

1.8v level shifter

Two (1P & 1N) HV (3.3V) mos and 1 LV (1.8V) inverter can get this job done easily.

The circuit you have given, gives inverted output
LOGIC 1 = 3.3V gives LOGIC 0 (1.8V) and
LOGIC 0 = 3.3V gives LOGIC 1 (1.8V) and


Interchange the connections of two 3.3V NMOS to get rid of the problem
