led overcurrent.

hello

when i switch on my LED driver, it puts an overcurrent surge of 2 Amps through the 700mA LEDs for about a millisecond.

This happens every time the LEDs are switched on (about three times a day)

Will this affect the lifetime of the LEDs?

this is the LED datasheet but does not tell it.

Re: led overcurrent.

Are you using a current source or voltage source?

Having more current will surely decrease the lifetime. But by "how much", will need some research!

The data sheet tells the right way to turn on the LED.

led overcurrent.

they are current driven but the current surge happens b4 the current controller powers up.

it is transient overshoot due to power up into the LC resonances of the LC filters of the EMC filters and Boost converter L and C.

it is not possible to mitigate without increasing component count too much
