Center tapped push-pull is the most simple circuit with least switching transistor count. H-bridge however has the advantage of easily recovering the leak inductance energy to the primary side, although it involves more switches and possibly higher on-state losses.
Hi,
Centre tap is used for pushpull topology. For Full bridge topology, center tap is not used. This is for Linear System.
In s.m.p.s. system, center tap is used for Push pull topology and not used in flyback/forward/half- bridge/full bridge topology. These are all for input to the Transformer. OUtput winding is optional.
Tapping is made to differ voltage in input/output of the transformer.
