synopsys design_analyzer problem

Hi, when i am running design_analyzer of synopysys, there is error message:

".../linux/syn/bin/dc_view_exec: No such file or dirctory...

How to solve it?

Have you checked properly the dc_view_exec file is there?

And please provide the complete details like:
tool version, platform & exact error ...
So that it will be a bit easy for everyone to understand the exact problem.
 

synopsys icc

there isn't the dc_view_exec file in the directory indeed, and there is many other ..._exec files there.
the Synopsys Design Compiler version is X-2005.12-SP1, and the platform is RHEL 4, and the shell is bash.
I type design_vision, it also did not work.

I will post the full error message later, because it is weekend on my side.

design_analyzer command not found

the error message is:
/edatools/synopsys/X-2005.12-SP1/linux/syn/bin/design_analyzer: line 247: /edatools/synopsys/X-2005.12-Sp1/linux/syn/bin/dc_view_exec: No such file or directory.

I checked the directory, there is not the dc_view_exec, what's the matter? Can't run design_analyzer in DC 2005? I tried design_vision, the error message is :
bash:design_vision: command not found

It seems you have some installation issue.

Anyway, since this DC is of 2005, definitely you would have installing it by synopsys installer.

If that's the case, check your install.log in /edatools/synopsys/X-2005.12-SP1/ directory. See if you find any error there itself.

Ok, if possible try to install it again in some other directory, set all the required variables and try to run it from there. And this time keep an eye on errors.

Note: And before running check for the "dc_view_exec" file. It should be there.

Are you able to get dc shell?

I searched the install.log, and there is not the record of the "de_view_exec" file .

I remember at the end of the installation, there is a message saying "Milkyway" not installed and need to be installed. But i did not find it. Is it due to the Milkyway, and where can i find this software?

I think then this installation is not for DC and that's for sure.
If I am not wrong then this is for IC Compiler. And that is why dc_view_exec is not there.

Anyway, in the starting itself during installation, it asks about DC Installation to install the ICC with it.
I think you installed it standalone. From here you can only access dc_shell.

And since you dont have Milkyway installed with your ICC, so you'll not be able to run ICC fully either. Since in the starting itself you have to create milkyway database to proceed in ICC.

Anyway, the solution is, get the DC first and then install ICC in conjunction with it. And dont forget to get Milkyway either.
Then only everything will work.

yes, i checked the source file , and found it is named "icc.taz".

then do i need to remove the ICC installation first, and then install design compiler, and then install ICC in conjuction with design compiler? If yes , how can i remove the pre-installed ICC?

Do you have DC 2005 first?
If yes. install it first and then when during installation IC compiler, it will ask about DC give the path of DC dir., That's it.

To remove ICC simply delete the dir, thats it. And change the environment variables accordingly.

I have still hangover, so, sorry, will talk later.
try what i suggested.

What happened buddy?

See even if you dont have the DC 2005, dont worry dc_shell will be working, sure. So better use that, anyway for synthesis I never used design analyzer. What ever i have done, I used dc_shell only.

But if even though you want to run that then may be you have create a workaround with some old DC database.
