siemens a50 at commands

Hi brothers!
I have a cellular A50 Siemens and would like interface with any microcontroller for sending SMS messages and data.
Would be possible some colleague to send such information or same one link so that it can search?

Thanks a lot, Gorkin!

Hello Gorkin,

if your microcontroller runs on 3.3V you can interface the ports directly to the A50.

If you are operating at 5V you need some kind of "interface" (a simple level converter).

If you need a level converter I can post a self made design later today when I am at work.

best regards

interface siemens

Hi C-MAN!
Thanks for reply-me, but I have more question about the interface like:
- My microcontroller can by powered with 3.3 or 5V
- I need the schematic of the interface with pin description of the A50 serial connector.
- My application is for remote monitoring, then I need the list of the AT commands and explanation about the SMS.

In past, I see the link in german site, but I am lost the link...

It´s possible Your help-me?
Thanks a lot, Gorkin

OK I understand.

You should look here (sorry in German):

and here:

But as far as I know you can not send SMS with A50 using the connector (i tried it myself).

This phone has no modem built in :-(

If you want to send SMS you will have to use one of these Siemens phones:
C35, M35, S35, C45, S45, ME45, SL45(i), C55, S55, M50, MT50

hope this helps

Ok C-MAN! But with A50 I can send digital data like a modem?
Thanks, gorkin

You can send voice data using mic-in and speaker out on the connector but this is not the same as using a modem because it works via the sound channels and not via the data channels.

It is much easier to use one of the Siemens phones I mentioned above because they have a built in modem and accept standard AT commands.

Sorry I do not know much about Nokia phones as I only use Siemens phones.

But as far as I know most Nokias have an Fbus and an Mbus connection and I believe they use a propriatory protocol which is generated from their driver software in the PC.

If you have to interface a 3.3V phone to 5V RS232 you will have to use a level converter like the one I have attached.

Using Google I found this link for you
https://www.gnokii.org/download/

I also attached a little bit of knowledge about the nokia protocols extracted from above link.

hope this helps and best regards

Oooops sorry the GND must also be connected to the Siemens connector pin 1 (power GND) and pin 7 and pin8 (both indicate that accessories are present in our case RS232 and headset).

As far as I know the S25 has no modem built in (or at least does not understand AT commands like the other Siemens phones). I had no luck using it.

best regards

Gorkin.

Yes you can send SMS with both (using PDU format) :)

If I remeber correctly the C35i has internet functionality built in??

Wait, i want to confirm here. Is it compulsory to use 3 volts to communicate with the phone? Or is it okay to use 5 volts, coz i see the schematics (previous post) use 5 volts.

So? Is it fine to use 5 volts? And can the usual 5 volt MAX232 accept 3v logic level from the phone?

Please do not double post

See my answer here:
