Dielectric for 2.4GHz

Dear All,

I am new to this field.

I need to get one 4 - layer PCB fabricated which has RF chip of 2.4GHz.

Which dielectric should be best for such 2.4GHz PCB?.

Is FR4 too lossy to be used at 2.4 GHz or it can be used?.

what other Dielectric can be used?.

It would be great if you can suggest some specific dielectric for it as FR4 also has several forms and grades?.

Re: Dielectric for 2.4GHz

Depending upon your circuit if only transmission lines are there then FR4 is good it has a dielectric constant of 4.4.

RT duroid is much much better but costly.

You can simulate the results with both materials and can see the difference which is better for you circuit.

Hope it helps

Dielectric for 2.4GHz

FR4 in most cases can still be used at 2.4 GHz. Rogers materials (e.g. RO4003) have better performance but much more expensive.
