How to measure 2000A DC?

I need to measure 2000A DC (<100V)
Could you recommend low cost solution?
Accuracy is not so important. %2-3 in
full span (>10A) is reosanable...

Try for example LEM inductive transducers.
 

Theres a simpler way. You need a very small resistor, eg a length of cable that can take the current, but has a high enough resistance to produce a voltage you wont have to amplify much to use a voltmeter with.

Depending on what you have you could also make a shunt for an existing current meter.

Basic Ohms law stuff essentially.

There are two ways. One is the calibrated shunt as described above but they are made by commercial companies with guaranteed accuracy.

The other is a clamp on hall effect sensor. This is also made by commercial companies,

i wouldn't say that lem current sensors are cheap. in fact, hall effect are probably the most expensive. calibrated sense resistors are cheap and easy to use, but at 2000A... this might be too high for sense resistor practical? even 0.001 ohm resistor will require 2W dissipation. that kind of heat generated might influence the measurement reading.

what about those old current transformers you see on generator stations.

To measure 2000Amp current shunt is the best method if cost is the concern
you can use 4 500 amp current shunts in parallel. because 2 % accuracy is oK for you.

Use MANGANIN current shunts they have very low temperature Coefficient.

but you will have to break the connection if you use a shunt.

Hall effect sensors are clamp on.
