compatability of ubundu and xp in same laptop

Hi S/W geeks,
Im facing a vague issue with Ubuntu installed in my Laptop (Compaq Presario V2300)
Once it completed the installation, NOTHING is visible to operate. Basically I installed the Ubuntu under my XP installation. All the resource creterion were met (Free HDD space, RAM requirement and Speed). Im suspecting its raphic Video drivers. Because eventhough if i complete installed XP I need to install Compaq drivers to better performance and graphics. Anybody has any solution for this issue???

ubuntu under windows

What do you mean by "installed the Ubuntu under my XP installation" ?

It is a dual boot laptop, or you run Ubuntu in a virtual machine inside XP?

Ubuntu is quite resource consumming to run virtually if you run demanding applications inside. If you use it for design/simulation it's better to have dual boot.
Maybe you can use something more bloat free than Ubuntu.

boot ubuntu windows presario

exactly, its dual boot configuration. But still Ubuntu is not working as expected and listed with the issues earlier. I tried in 2 different modes in my Lappy.
1. Installed Ubuntu on the Pre-installed XP --> Not worked
2. Fresh Ubuntu installation --> Not worked.
That is the reason Im suspecting the driver compatibility with the Ubuntu supplied common video/audio drivers.
