Hi,
I want to use 26v energy saving bulb with battery at my home.

Is it possible to power Energy saving bulb using 12v 7.2aH battery? How to do it without using any inverter ?

Is the energy saving bulb runs in DC? What about fluorescent lights (40/45 watt)?

Please share some schematics or references.

Thanks a lot.

I don't know which type of energy-saving bulb you have.

I have many 120VAC compact fluorescent bulbs that use 1/4 the power of an incandescent light bulb but give the same amount of light and they last a lot longer. They will not do anything with a 12V battery.

Somebody said that they buy 12V compact fluorescent bulbs that are made for boats and recreational vehicles. They have a little inverter inside.

At a local store they sell many inexpensive inverters that are powered from a 12V battery.

It is possible to obtain bulbs that run off DC but as Audio says they have an inverter inside.

Any fluorescent bulb runs on AC and therefore would require some form of inverting circuit. Look at **broken link removed** for an idea

Thanks a lot Audioguru and trekkytekky for your replies.

I now understand that inverter is required anyway.

In many circuits I see people designing circuits with transistors or MOSFETs. Isn't there any ready made inverter?

We can buy a compact fluorescent bulb that has an inverter inside that operates from 12VDC.
We can buy inexpensive inverters that can power almost any electrical product.

You can try making an inverter like millions of people do in the 3rd world where there is no electricity.

it is better to build dc to ac voltage inverter and use ac energy saving bulb

cfl inverter more saving and longer than bulb
