Please Answer This...

Guys,

I come across some terminologies the meaning of which I didnot get.
I searched on Google but still didnot find much. Please explain me these terminologies......

Glueless interface.
I2S channel
UART with IrDA

Please Answer This...

glueless interface is the term used when we don't need an circuit of somekind between 2 ICs or circuit blocks...

Please Answer This...

can i have more explanations please?

Thanks

Please Answer This...

Say i have a uC and i want to interface an external memory... if the uC has a port or GPIF or GPIOs through which i can interface directly to the external memory then it is a glueless interface... Say i've to use a CPLD or programmable logic circuit of some kind between the uC and external memory then it is not a glueless interface...
Practically for design people look for glueless interface because it reduces the IC count, PCB size etc etc
