minsys mcs51 circuit

hi!
i need to find out, " what's the minimum configuration/requirement for a circuit with 8051. "

guys i really need ur help.

btw, it can be as small as a credit card size.
i need the pics and specs,
as i have already been googling for quite some time already.

hmmmm..

i can use surface mount technology/device btw.

thanks in advance.

8051 xtal2 connect

guys i really your help.

much apprieciated

Re: need help on 8051

hi,
that depends on ur application.

the configuration/requirement would be,
1)Power Supply
2)other peripherals r interfaces as per ur application(it is better to choose all ic's with same power supply which are to be interfaced with microcontroller )
3)ofcourse u need to take care of availability

for example if it is simple serial communication it can be done?

can u brief ur application?

Re: need help on 8051

I think what he means is the minimum system schematic for mcs-51 family.

The basic configuration is just the microcontroller itself, a crystal, two ceramic capacitors, a resistor and a electrolyte capacitor. connect the crystal between pin xtal1 and xtal2 of the micro. connect xtal1 and GND with a ceramic cap, same thing for xtal2. connect reset pin and GND with a resistor, and reset pin with Vcc with the elco. connect pin ea/vpp to Vcc. and that's it.

don't know if it's what you mean, can you be more specific?

Re: need help on 8051

If you want to be minimalist why dont`t you choose then another type of mcu like the AVR´s or another one with internal oscilattor?

Re: need help on 8051

You can use a member of the LPC900 family from NXP. It is 8051 based and comes in packages as small as 3x3mm, so a credit card is huge. This micro, the LPC9103 or a similar one has an internal osc... depending on your application you only need to connect power ;-)

need help on 8051

okie,

my application is Generic Controls.

haha.

thanks alot guys for ur help.

Added after 5 minutes:

i shall be more specific,

my project is building a 8051 microcontroller that allows me to program programs for generic usage.

im to use 8051 specifically. i need the schemetic before i can actually design the circuit board using CADstar.

i tried google-ing but no luck.
