Need you feedback on New CCK-QAM modulated system

Hello,

I have modelled a system (in Mathlab/simulink environment) based on QAM- CCK (complementary code keying) modulation. As you know CCK provides 11MBs data rate for wireless communication systems using QPSK modulation.

I had an idea and tried it in Mathlab/simulink environment. I thought that if I use QAM instead of QPSK I can either double data rate or reduce the number of integrator/correlators in receiver by 4 times. I modelled the system for my second idea and it works normally, of course at the expence of power increase at transmitter side by 4 times (theoretically). At the same time there are 16 integrators/correlators instead of 64 at the receiver side.

Since mostly the correlators are implemented digitally, the reciever implementation area (on chip) will be reduced dramatically, which is good. This in its turn will reduce power consumtion at reciver side.
From the other hand I had to increase power of transmitter. I don't know yet, possibly the average power consumtion will be the same or less, but the receiver chip area will be reduced much. In any case the power amplifiers mostly are implemented in a seperated chips so totally even by increaseing the transmitter power will not affect on area on board level.

So my question is the following:
Do you think that a digital communication system based on CCK - QAM modulation can live in practice? Any idea are welcome, since I need your feedback
