cst conformal

hi

how to model conformal microstrip patch antennas in CST MWS?

i was trying to model a cylinder and then cutting it . but after that i am stuck up how to proceed with the design of ground plane ,substrate and finally patch

anyone have experience of modeling non planar patch antennas would be of great help

regards

cst conformal modelling

For radial symmetry, the substrate is just a PEC cylinder with another cylinder of dielectric wrapped around it. Draw the cross section of the patch with a curve (two arcs and two lines) then extrude the curve and translate as needed. Do the same for the feed line.

All the dimensions should be parameterized. Make sure the cylinders and arcs have enough segments.

A lumped port may be used but you will want to verify the feed line Z0 with a wave port.

CST 2009 will have a feature to wrap planar elements onto arbitrary surfaces. That should make things allot easier.
