UR Suggestion other than AVR & PIC

What would you select a microcontroller other than AVR & PIC?

What are the reasons for the selection?

I have go for an new micro other than avr and pic, Please suggest me one

Have you considered the MSP430? It's a 16-bit micro, with some nice power-saving features.
 

Microchip is about to buy Atmel.
Then 'avr' will become 'pic'.

It is not just the chip, you have to consider cost of support tools and compilers.

Freescale have a wide range of micros.
Infineon is another good range.
Also the French ST micros.
 

How about Renesas? I think its too becoming popular nowadays!
