Is there a RTOS for PIC18 family?

Hi,

Does anyone know if a RTOS exists for the PIC family (PIC18) ?
I think for PIC16 it's not possible regarding the little memory spaces... Isn't it ?

The two well known free RTOS for pic18 are FreeRTOS http://www.freertos.org/ and PisOS18 http://www.picos18.com/ .

There is also some commercial RTOS but I don't know then very well. You should take a look on previous post on this forum and/or on the microchip forum.

I wanna know how RTOS are used with Controllers..

--> How is RTOS installed on the Controller.., it is same like putting a hex file on the controller..??

--> How is the code develped..? Is the code developed directly with a compiler on a PC and then ported on the Controller Running on the RTOS. or The code developed on a PC with some Compiler or program that provides an simulator kinda thing..??
or how this process is done??

Hello,

When you are using FreeRTOS or PICos18, you've got the source files.

Then, you have to put the code in MPLAB, to define your processes staticly, to compile everything and, as a result, you get an hex file....

Included is pdf doc file with small rtos tutorial plus working examples. Runs with mpsim in mplab using logic analyser window to see task running order.
