What are the function of different layers in EAGLE PCB?

Does anyone know what the different layers do / are for in EAGLE PCB?

I am specifically asking for Solder Mask Layers, silk screen, Drilling, and top paste layer.

In Eagle press F1 and the help window pops up. Then search for 'Layer' (Index).
You'll get a good overview of the different layers.

Yeah that is a wonderful tutorial and the guy that runs sparkfun is a very smart man but it does not tell me all the layer numbers I needed: For others that search this here is a list of all the layers.
