Hi

Are the path loss models are experimental? Or is there a theoretical derivation for them?

Re: path loss models

As I know,

Free space prorogation model is analytical, I mean there exit a mathematical formula for that.

Okumura is based on measurement.
Hata model is an empirical formulation of the graphical path loss data provided by Okumura..

I think for basics, refer to book

Wireless communication, by Theodore Rappaport

Re: path loss models

I agree with you

Re: path loss models

hi.

Important point for path loss simulation is your simulation environment.

location, frequency, antenna gain, transmit power, receive power,...

you have to cosider various factor.

ex) free path loss model.

Pr = (lamda/(4 * pi*distance))^2 *Gr * Pt * Gt

Pr : receive power
lamda : wave length
Gr : receive antenna gain
Pt : transmit power
Gt : trnasmit antenna gain

Re: path loss models

dear sir,
I am working on propagation path loss. can u tell me how can i add path loss to transmitted bits. i got the path loss of 110 dB and now i have to corrupt the transmitted data with that amount . Can u plz help me out.

regards
sohkha

Re: path loss models

Please let me know if there is any way to corrupt the transmitted signal with Path loss
