vlsi domain

Hi All,

I am presently working in an "Embedded Systems Domain" with specialization to RTOS (VxWorks).

I have recently completed my M.Tech in VLSI & Embedded Systems. I have a desire to enter the VLSI domain (Back End) but have no Idea from where to start.

Could you please guide me on how to go about? Where to start, what tools to work with etc.

Best regards,

Kiran

vlsi back end tools

I have about 10 years experience in the VLSI industry. My suggestion would be: Dont quit Embedded systems. Its lot more fun, and offers lot more opportunities. BTW if you want to start back-end, tools like magma, First encounder(cadence) will help. If you are already employed somewhere, you can do tutorials on these tools. Also a good understanding of 'synthesis' would help. Synopsys Design Compiler is the most popular tool for 'synthesis'. A tutorial can be found on my web site:

Hope it helps,
Kr,
Avi

Join a company such as Cadence or Synopsys in a junior role. They are the largest companies and sell the two major tool suites. Read up on their synthesis, place and route, DRC & LVS tools.

Hi AVI,

Could you please let me know if there is a "Student Evaluation Copy" available on Net for Synopsys Design Compiler.

Thanks in advance.
Cheers,

Kiran

Hi Friends,

I was VLSI Physical design Engineer from 2004 to Dec 2007, and for some ridiculous reason, I discontinued to work in that field and changed to Business Analyst on IT, was in UAE for 1 Year.

Since i am more of a technical guy, not able to perform well in busines as i used to, while was in VLSI. IT, ERP's are something which I never understand. and cant bluff my company's customer anymore.

Please suggest me, if i can return back to my original domain. If yes, what are the necessary things to be taken care of,/ what need to be prepared to grab the opportunity in first attempt only.

As adding guilt to injury, Company that i was working previously is shut down its operations in the country i reside in.

I am in confusion, will some one look at my profile with the mixed experience as mine.

Regards
Lohi
