89c5131 bootloader

89C5131 chip recieved from Atmel as free samples. Chip is powered from USB bus via LP2951-3.3. Reset pin connected via 0.1uF capacitor to GND. (reset switch is present) USB data lines conencted via 27 Ohm resistors D+ connected via 1.5kOhm to VREF (detach switch also present). 24.0MHz crystal with 20pF capacitors used. All other pins except P1.0 are floating. (P1.0 conneted to GND). When attaching USB cable to computer port WinXP dosn't recognises device but WinDriver Wizard says that USB device with VendorId 0000 ProductId 0000 are present.
FLIP (1.8.9) reports "Unable to open USB device".
What is wrong?

... D+ and D- is need to be exchanged. Is it Atmel mistake in datasheet?

have a similar problem:
WinXP installs "unknown device" despite installed atmel drivers, FLIP shows "Unable to open usb port".
changing d- and d+ ...... no reaction, no response, no idea.
have you made it? .... how?

If WinXP installs unknown device, it knows device VENDOR_ID and PRODUCT_ID. Try to get USBIO demo and see, what exactly USB device reports. (If it reports anything).

I just used USB cable (made in China), that dosn't follow USB color specification, so i was need to exchange data lines.

And the last but not least: some versions of ATMEL USB bootloader can allow code reading while SSB set to maximum security. Check this first, when you solve your problem. So You'll need to get a parallel programmer for this device to fix these problems.

Kind of an old thread but i had the same problem. At first it worked fine then it started having transmission issues then it would only go into bootloader mode once ever 30 tries. I seen the comment for the cheap cable so i looked at my pins, i know the comments where unrelated but guess what cheap chinease and they where pushed in to far. i pulled down on the cable and now it works great. Btw first post and thanks alot guys for now and any thing in the future.
