Question is about Virtuoso Layout and Labels i.e. how to make some label/text in layout with date and time information? But this label should be self updated i.e. if I will change something in layout view, this label should reflect date and time of last change.
Any ideas are welcome!
Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
microchaos

Create empty symbol. Then put there label (choice instance label):
"ilInst~>cellView~>instancesLastChanged"
Save this symbol.
Then put this symbol into layout. Use magnification factor more than 100. Otherwise it will be very small and you may not see that.

I checked this solution a few days ago. It works very well until you run DRC or LVS. In shematic view it is everything OK, but if symbol with custom information is placed in layout, DRC and LVS fails with VDB error.

I am facing a problem with virtuoso XL it is giving me the error "pin/Label is on a net with different name" when i attach the substrate to the ground in simple invertor ckt

Press Sheet->Edit size. Choose size of the frame(A, B...F). Date is in the right lower corner of the schematic. It is self-updated.

Sergey he asked about layout label not schematic.

By using text layer you can place the labels where ever you want in the layout. That text labels are for user/designer understanding purpose but it is not related to fab.
