Hi,
I observed the Spacing and pitch of the metal lines values in the lef file .Whats the purpose of mentioning two ?Is any one is not sufficient to Place & Route tool?

Re: Pitch vs Spacing

Pitch is the distance of center to center.
Space is the distance of edge to edge.

Pitch vs Spacing

pitch = one width + one spacing

Pitch vs Spacing

The distance between middle metal to middle metal is called as the pitch that is suppose u have two metal layers M1 to M2 or M1 to M1 so the pitch will be the distance between M1/2 to M1/2 and this is needed to make a P and R boundary perfect Otherwise u will get DRC violations and these are the design rules which we need to follow in the design..Hope it is clear for u
Bye take care

Re: Pitch vs Spacing

The height of standard cell is equal to metal1 pitch .or its multiple.

The width of standard cell is multiple of metal2 pitch.

Bascing , on this pitch , the manufacturing grid, routing grids can be defined.

Spacing is paramter to be maintained to meet drc.
