Hello all,
I have an interview with Synopsys for a AE position (AMBA product line). Can anybody tell me what do they look for. ?

Also I need advice on AE positons in general. I have been working as a design engineer for almost 4 years both in RTL and verification. The experience has been decent, my questions ;
1. Is a transition to AE a good career option, after abt 2 years as an AE would one be out of sync with design/verification skills
2. Is it difficult to move back to a design / verification position a few years after being a AE
3. What are other career options for a person who has been an AE for say 2-3 years

I will appreciate any help and advice.

Thanks,
Beo

As far as I am aware in most of the companies responsibilities of AE includes helping customer design application acc. to the companies line of chips. The nature of work is more of support and service type and involvees lots of documentation and technical writing , though some application development may include.

As you have good experience in Design arena , you should think once more before getting into this not so technical area .

Thanks for the input KP.
Are all AE positions completely non-technical. I have come across some very good technical articles written by AEs, so was wondering. Also, once you have worked as an AE, is it really difficult to get back to core design/verification?

Are AE generally paid more than an engineer with the same years of experience?

Sorry for asking a lot of questions. Thanks in advance for any replies :)
