root raised cosine filter +diagram

Hi all , i want to ask if we use root raise cosine shape for pulse shaping then one symbol extends for several symbol durations. In that case we dont get the Eye diagram because befor one symbol ends next symbol starts.
If this is to be the case how can we measure parameters such as noise margin ,timing jitter, optimum sampling point.
Does constellation diagram tells us anything about above mentioned parameters?
Any response would be appreciated.

root raised cosine pulse

Impulse response of root-cosine filter is that it is zero at the positions of adjacent bits despite of that
it "extends more"

So Eye diagram is good
