what is floorplanning

what is floorplannings and placement and CTS and routing input and outputs in physical design?

There is one input for floorplanning and we have specifications like core to i/o distance , core utilization and so on ..
The output file for floorplan is the DEF file

For placement we need to have standard cells, before this placement we need to put a special route for Std cell rows...,Connecting global nets such as Vdd and Vss..same DEF file will be the output..

For CTS the input files are clock tree specification file, footprints, Here the output will be routing guide file, ctstrace file.. and timing paths information i guess

For actual routing we need routing guide file and it comes after cts...to meet the constraints..and ordinary buffers are the inputs..
