What is the future of RFIC Design in CMOS/SiGe ?

WLAN has slowed, WiMax is not taking off.

What is left-even cellular has slowed.

Any hope ?

Please give advice !

Thanks.

yeah , they are slowed down , but still there are alot of jobs out there , even many startups begin to launch like sirific, and so on
almost now all work in multistandard RFIC
and don't worry always RF engineers find new standards to be done , and the work continue

i am about to finish my master , and see alot of optimism in the air or u can say wish :)

do u begin to work puppet1 , or still student ?

If I recall correctly RFIC increases 19% while IC industry increases 4% last year
Also in universities the research focus are shifting from mixed signal to RF IC in many cases. This also gives some hint

i was working - want to go back to school and do PhD

by the time i finish no CMOS !

hahaha...

yeah , from now , work in new technologies , like
FINFETs , sub 32 nm CMOS , things will change , and new topologies need to be made for analog and RF

also i am planning after MSc , seek a PhD position out there

another thing , u can work in SDR , there is a great interest in such receivers

what do u have in mind about research ?
