I currrently have a solar array which can output 17V - 20V and 6A maximum output. I would like to convert this output to simply charge a battery or power up a load i haven't thought of yet.

I was lucky enough to find this.

The Author provided the details on how it works, however, something is still not clear. The only thing we vary in his circuit is the pwm, which dictates the ratio of the input voltage to the output voltage, thus if i keep the output voltage to a fixed level by attaching a battery at the output, and vary the ratio by varying the pwm, then i will be able to vary the input voltage. Is that right?
