dear friends I don't know anything about designing a rectangular microstrip antenna :( I don't know which simulation programme is the best for designing a rectangular microstrip antenna and where I can find/download this programme.this design is my graduation project. I am so hopeless. Can you help me please?

1. Find the book of Balanis (antenna theory). Read the chapter on patch antenna.

2. You can use any of the softwares: ADS Momentum/HFSS/CST/IE3D. If you don't have access to any of them, you can download IE3D from zeland website (free version for limited duration from www.zeland.com).

3. design/simulate/update your antenna until you get desired results.

ADS momentum includes an example on this antenna so you can study it.

Go to google and search for Matlab Sonnet. Go to the link that comes up on the Matlab website. Download the Matlab script. Then go to www.sonnetsoftware.com. Download SonnetLite and install (I work for Sonnet). SonnetLite has no time-out, it is good forever, the problem size for the new version is twice the previous limit. Run the Matlab script. Type in the desired center frequency and input impedance. The Matlab script will run all the required SonnetLite analyses to design your antenna. You can change the Matlab script anyway you want. You can modify the script, for example, to design other circuits too.

Hi Dr.Rautio,

It sounds really amazing that it can design any frequency..How it work for other circuit too?will it work on dimension design?
