Hi all

Here is the nice thing programmable Function Generator based on PIC micro 16f877 and Max-038.
Frequency counter built in all parameters and selection display on LCD use full tool for workbench, code slightly revised and converted to MPASM compatibility.
All information about the constructions included along with source code for PIC micro PCB design included in pdf. (Note: I have built this having no problem with it)

I haven't build this design but a similar from elektor with same chip, I am satisfied. I think it is good for hobby/semi pro use.

have some old icl8038 from Harris. Are they pin to pin compitable with max038?

Can I replace them in ref design?

there is no compitability with icl8083 from harris the max038 is more power full chip and have more ferquency 20Mhz in out put

Maxim released a SMD version, for project search elektor. This is not as advanced as the old MAX038 project, mostly freq generator, but much smaller and better stability.

i have build an Frequency generator, too. Use PIC to display Frequency.
now i want to add the some keys, so i can change the frequency digitaly. anyone done something like that?
have some problems.

Try xr2206 with pic using digital potentiometer from xicor. It will result in a perfect function generator.

pic-gen frequency generator and counter

i'm doing about system function generator base on Max038 but i get trouble about designed. i referenced some of circuit but i have no experient about high frequency. The signal is testing on digital osilloscope more distored in frequency about 1.5MHz
the circuit i designed on ORCAD (I sent blow). Could you show me my fault ?

Well, this point system is really aggravating. I'm a new user (registered 2 days ago). I was happy when I found this forum. I'm searching some information on the PIC based MAX038 generator, I found usable info only here. But I can not download any files from here, since I haven't got enogh points.
Please can anyone send the files to : adlertag_at_freemail_dot_hu ? I would be very grateful. or links, or something...

The XR2206 is not comparable to MAX038 because the XR2206 has a max frequency of 1 MHz; the MAX038 goes to 20 MHz or higher.
