hi i am studying the course DATA COMMUNICATIONS
and my teacher has assigned me to do project on the following area..
Desiging wireless/RF module for various sensors for data transmission to/and from a server

Building automation monitoring and control:

Temperatures, humidity, lighting, access, fluid levels, pressure...

A plus would be picking situations where hardwire connections would be more expensive or difficult than wireless.

for power line communication.. u can use standard X10 protocol...

And
for wireless.. units you have to be very careful about battery life and power consumption
