Greetings,

I know BASIC, but I have never used C. I need to learn it from the beginning.
Would somebody please suggest an economical C compiler and tutorials for PIC24. Much appreciated.

C30 compiler from Microchip, student version is free. DO NOT USE CCS SINCE YOU WILL GET MENTALLY CRAZY FROM THE NUMBER OF BUGS !

unfortunatelly there are no PIC24 / dsPIC33 tutorials as far as I know - these two families are very new on the market (sth like 3 or 4 years I suppose).

Hi!
Use C30 compiler from Microchip. As already said the student version is free. Another advantage is that it is frequently updated by Microchip to include new devices.
The book available here
https://www.flyingpic24.com/
is also available at rapidshare for download.
Regards.
