harward architecture

hi,
8051 is following which architecture,if it is harward explain how it is harward or if it is von newman how it is von newman.

what is harward & neuman

Hi,

Any processor/controller is classified as harvard or von neuman based on its memory architecture .
Von neuman arhitecture advocates the use of same memory for code & data ex.8085
whereas Harvard uses different memory for data & code

8051 is a Harvard architecture as 8051 has seperate memories for data & code.

harward architecture of 8051

But 8051 is having same bus for code and data....
then, can't it be called van neuumann....

what is harward architecture

Hi,

We can conclude whether the architecture is Von Neuman or Harvard based on memory only not on bus as far as i know.

Initially Von Neuman became popular due to its simplicity but when the apetite for performance went up harvard arcitechture became a compelling choice
