Hi

I am considering of using CAN PIC such as PIC18F458 or dPIC for my project but can someone please kindly advise me which suitable PIC compiler should I use? The compiler must allow to me to write and debug my codes.

In fact I am in dilemma at the moment as I have found out that ATMEGA128CAN is quite plus free C compiler. For PIC18F458, I believe that i need to buy full C compiler software. Another good about this PIC chip is I can plug the chip on my ZIF socket.

PIC Compiler

Use C18 from Microchip. It is practially free.

Re: PIC Compiler

If you go with a PIC18F simple use the C18 compiler, if you don't want to spend money on it, simple download the student version that the only limitations are small things that you will not need ;-)

Re: PIC Compiler

The limitations are made after 60 days of using C18 , Note that we didn't use much of the options that were limited but , one of them was very important "The Code Optimization " Option.

Re: PIC Compiler

I get the message from you guys....

I am tempted to use PIC chip for CAN interface as it is a bit cheaper and easily fix on my zif socket. What about programmer?
