Hi,
I am interfacing UC with LCD44780.
I am driving LCD44780 on 5V
can my signal voltage(data lines) be 3.3V?
Can I drive LCD44780 in 3.3V?
What is Z+ and Z- in LCD terminology?

Thanks
Nikhil

Check the data sheet of the LCD module. If the input logic low and high threshold is 2.5V, then your 3.3 volts interface should work.

Where do you see Z+ and Z- ? If it is on pin 15 and 16 then it is LED back light supply pins.

Cheers

Ravi

i agree ,

you can but, the display may show mild .

one second ,
lcd supply =5 v and you just driving it via 3.3v driver .........will work

or

lcd supply =3.3 v and you just driving it via 3.3v driver ........ will not work

plz clear it

LCD module will not work at 3.3 volts. It needs > 4.5 Volts.

Cheers
