Hi, all. I want to know what are the issues to be considered if technology changes? Mainly how the design rules changes with the technology as it shrinks????
thanks in advance.

Hi,
Design rules depends on lamba. The issues considered while shrinking are:
Signal integrity:
Synchronization and delays;
Power consumption, leakage
and the new physical phenomenon.

Re: What are the issues to be considered if technology chang

Can you explain the relationship of lambda and technology??

i think the supply change will be the most effective issue

Read and compare between 2 technologies.Find out the main changes.

when technology changes design rules changes a lot. because design rule is to tkae care many physical phenomena .depending upon geometry migration it can be very small or it can be very large also . suppose u go from 0.8 um to 0.18 um technology the design rules which changes are manily like distance between two active areas, contact size, via diamensions, mimimum metal width , metal overlap over contact and via,etc
