allegro 16 placement file

Hi Everyone,

If any one have any suggestions by which we can minimize the design process in Allegro (layout) and capture (schematic) and would like to share them I will be thankful to them.

Like one below.

1. In case we have multiple modules having same parameters then we can use copy+paste option to create them.
2. Using Bus route option is one more method by which we can reduce some of the routing time.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Hi,
In layout you can do this in the following way
if you have same block of components repeating more than 2 times than
1) export the placement file for the firt one
2) open in excel and modify the cortinates and referances
3) than import again.
4) you will get the another bolck placed in the way you did for the first one in some other place according to the coordinates...

Re: Ideas to speed the design process - Allegro and Capture

you don't need any "copy+paste", the idea of "manually change coordinate and references in excel" even worse. :)

Capture CIS / Allegro has very good "re-use" module support for your design. check the keyword "RE-USE" in the software's help/document, you will done your task quickly in more "professional" way.

Re: Ideas to speed the design process - Allegro and Capture

Hi,

I use Pads layout ,the concept your talking about is called "physical design reuse".

I checked in allegro and it is called as "DESIGN REUSE",i have also attached the link underneath to go through it,

https://www.cadence.com/datasheets/7433_Design_Creation_DS_FINAL.pdf.

If you don't have the features then it is tedious job to do...

The feature is really good as you can save the entire module as reuse and call that whenever you like in your design...

Anyways check the link for details...

Regards,

Ramesh

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your suggestion.
I have already worked on design reuse method. I think u guys understood me in
other way. Sorry If my question mis guided u guys.
In my mail what I ment is that, If any one has similar ideas by which we can
reduce the design cycle time and would like to share can do so. In my mail I just gave an example how we can save the time by reusing the design.

Hope I am clear now.

Once again I thank all of u for ur suggestions and welcome any new ideas.
