I have some questions about dielectric resonator oscillators.

1-I want to know the tuning ranges attainable by mechanical and electronical
tuning of the DROs.(specially electronic tuning)

3-how much can the oscillation frequency of a DRO deviate from
the DR resonance frequency(indicated in the DR datasheet)?

4-Can we have wideband tuning range and at the same time high loaded Q? If yes,How ?

can anybody help please ?

X_band tunable DRO

1)the tuning range is limited , coz it depends on the mechanical tuning

2) there are 2 usually used , topologies , serie feedback , and parallel , the parallel used alot in the SAT receivers

3) i don't know , how much it will deviate but it will depend on ur layout , and the prasitics

4) if u want wide band low phasenoise , u should use YIG resosntor , but with DRO u will add a varactor so it will be narrow band

Re: X_band tunable DRO

i want the tuning range of dro quantitativly not qualitativly
thanks very much

X_band tunable DRO

quantitavly , it will depend on how much the capactaice of the varactor will be changed

Though it's been little late, but you could check out "Review of some types of varactor tuned DROs" by N. Popovic.

Electronically tuned DROs at X band are generally expected a tuning range of 1% without serious Q degradation
