whenever an DC quantity is to be converted to AC then it involves a oscillator... so construct a 50Hz oscillator and step up the voltage as needed using a transformer...
theoretically u can do that by usin an oscillator n a transformer....but practically i dont think it is feasible...u cant get such a high voltage output with just 12V DC ....
i think it is possible... the only problem is that the output current would be very low.... I've seen transformers with very good ratings enough to do this....
From what you ask it sound like you need a 220volt inverter This will give you a 220volt 50hz supply and these can be bought very cheaply now as it is the sort of thing people use to go camping and run tvs and radios etc fro a mains supply.
