using 74ls169

Hi everyone,

I have observed something that might be normal behavior but just in case I would like to check with you:

I noticed that when the counter is loaded, it counts as expected all the way until RCO. However, once ripple carry over occurs, the counter starts from zero, NOT from the previously loaded value.

Does this mean that RCO event resets the custom-loaded value? If I want to count from something other than 0, I have to load it every time RCO occurs?

Why is that? I tough that once a value is loaded into the counter it will always count from that value, NOT zero?

For this specific example I am using SN74LS169N IC - a generic up/down counter with load feature
